{Style} Make a statement with your shoes
Shoes are an integral part to any bride’s outfit. They have to be comfortable and beautiful but they can also add something else to an ensemble. That might be glamour, edge or humour. Here are a few ideas to turn heads.
WELLIES
If you are having your wedding when the weather is less than desirable or mud might be an issue, you can swap your pretty heels for a pair of wellies. These could be brightly coloured pair of Hunters or some cheap and cheerful boots in an interesting print.
There’s also an air of festival chic to the Wellington boot. Why not incorporate this into your entire wedding. Think live bands, food stalls, mud and camper vans.
DR MARTENS
If there’s a punk edge to your style then these could be the perfect way to keep that. They’d be hidden under your dress for most of the day until you hitch it up to have a bit of a dance. Dr Martens and pretty dresses shouldn’t go together so well but they really, really do.
Perhaps don’t go for white, they might match your dress a little too well. Try a bright colour, if you are brave enough, or stick with trusty black.
BRIGHT COLOURS
Colour blocking is very on-trend at the moment and bright heels can easily be found in high street stores. A bold wedge or block heel will make more of a statement and will be easier to walk in than a slim heel.
These purple Steve Madden Wedges certainly do the trend justice.
IRON FIST
This brand can’t really be lumped into a category with any other type of shoe. The shapes of each shoe range from classic high heel to the statement boot. It’s the designs and prints on each shoe that really make them stand out.
The Shotgun Platform Shoes are black and white and would work well with any wedding dress. It’s the spiked anklet and chain that will really turn heads. If you want something even more over the top then Zombie Stomper Platform would be perfect. A classic court shoe with an amazing zombie design.
KILLER HEELS
If you are brave — and steady — enough then a pair of skyscraper heels could really make a statement. Don’t go so high that you are taller than the groom and remember you will have to walk down the aisle in front of everyone you know. Choose accordingly.
The Jeffrey Campbell Eva shoes have a huge heel but also look quite sturdy. Perhaps work in the colour blocking trend and choose bright blue or orange.
If you prefer well know designers, the Christian Louboutin Daffodile 160 are the perfect wedding shoes. They are crystal-embellished suede platforms with that iconic red sole. They will take a rather considerable chunk out of your wedding budget, though.
Keeping you inspired!

I wore bright purple Hunter wellies with an ivory dress for my snowy wedding in 2010 – They matched my bouquet beautifully and my maiden name was Hunter so it was perfect! I also wore the Irregular Choice Courtesan shoes in ivory/gold when I was being a little more sensible. Love the DM’s though, very cool idea!
